When you are working on getting clear, especially in personal desires, you have no choice but to get to this question. Why? Because what you want is a reflection of who you are. There is no way around this. Your desires and outcomes reflect what you hold in your heart.
These needs i.e. the deep needs are a reflection of you. Pascal, the mathematician and philosopher, used to say that knowing who a person is is impossible because the outside changes. The body ages or is damaged and this is an indicator of inside changes. Therefore, who is the real person?
What we do have is our desires. They are an echo of what we are. It is those desires that define who we are. Don’t be deceived by the word desire. This isn’t about passion or lust. This is a joining of will and action that brings about more clarity in who you are. This is both in this moment and in the moment of accomplishment.
The process of acknowledging your desires and then specifying them and then acting towards them is the process that brings who you are into sharp focus.
Desire and its elements will be a theme as we move forward in our discussion of clarity. Stay tuned.
I invite you to spend some time thinking about your desires. Define your desired outcome and the action steps needed. Then meditate on what it means about you. Let me know what happens.
