Today I’d like to challenge you to do something with each of your actions throughout the day. With each action you contemplate I invite you to ask yourself, “What is my desired outcome for this action?” It will take at most a minute to ask and answer the question. If it takes longer or you have feelings of resistance to answering the question remember this and come back to it later.
Now I know it might seem silly if you are going to the grocery store to ask about your desired outcome. You want to buy food right? But maybe you might flesh out the answer such as, “I want to buy food good for my body and my family and I want to spend less than $x. I desire that I spend only $5 on junk food.”
The point of this is to realize that even the most obvious actions have multiple layers of desire hidden in them. Of course, I won’t ask you to do this every day but if you can do this as much as you can for 1 day you will awaken your consciousness to the creativity of this question.
And please ask me questions about your struggles with this and give me your insights.
Have fun….and it is fun!
Cliff, I like this post a lot. It speaks to me about intention and when we set intentions it helps to keep us conscious and aware of what we truly want (those outcomes you are talking about).
I actually say I want to be out of the grocery store in an hour or less. I’m not a big shopper and love buzzing through quickly. It also saves me from those impulse junk food purchases!
