I thought I’d bring in Socrates for a visit. It is popular today to talk about evil people and good people as if they are polar opposites.
When asked about evil Socrates once said there are no evil people; they are just ignorant. They don’t know who they are and go down the wrong path.
In a nutshell this is the path of clarity. Our task is to understand ourselves in our quest which is never ending and seek for the good of everyone we touch. If we let go of the grasping philosophy and let self knowledge happen our vision becomes clearer and clearer and evil isn’t possible.
Love and the Tao to all of you.
Good and evil are just belief that we have come to adopt to make up for things we did not understand and different from what we knew, In that sense Socrates was right as it is the ignorance that causes the judgment.
Basically ignorance is the instinct for self interest. How does one get the knowledge of self without understanding right from wrong. And, who decides what is right or wrong for this person? We must experience in order to find our clarity. We are shaped by family and figures of authority from there we make our impressions which may define us or be the centre of path to clarity.
